Instructions for use Zodiac PVC adhesive (2-component) - Z7096
Use the Zodiac PVC 2-component adhesive for professional repairs to your Zodiac inflatable boat or RIB. Follow the steps below carefully for a strong bond.
Important conditions for bonding
- The temperature of the area where bonding will take place must be between 20° and 25°.
- The humidity must not be higher than 70%.
Mix the adhesive and hardener thoroughly according to the ratio on the packaging.
Mixing ratio: 5–7% hardener relative to the adhesive
(e.g. 125 ml adhesive + 7.5 ml hardener, or 250 ml adhesive + 15 ml hardener)
Preparing the repair
- Cut or trim the patch (PVC repair patch) to size. TIP: If possible, always round off the corners of the patch for a better result.
- Mark the outline on the area to be repaired on the boat using a white pencil or a silver- or green-writing pen.
⚠️ Do not use a blue-writing pen! - Degrease the patch and the marked area on the boat with special CLEANER (no acetone!).
Degrease only the marked area on the boat.
Bonding instructions
- First coat: Apply a thin coat of adhesive to both surfaces using long, straight strokes. Leave to dry for 5–10 minutes.
- Second coat: Repeat the adhesive application and allow to dry again for 5–10 minutes.
- Third coat: Apply another thin coat and leave to dry for 10 minutes. The adhesive should no longer feel “tacky”.
Then apply the patch to the boat and press firmly from the centre outwards using a blunt object. If required, you can also use the special stainless steel pusher.
Clean off adhesive residue immediately with the special cleaner and then press the edges of the
patch firmly once more.
Then allow to dry for at least 24 hours at a constant temperature. The boat must not come into contact with water again until after 72 hours.
Important warnings and tips
If the adhesive turns white, you must NOT continue bonding.
The cause is usually an ambient temperature that is too low or humidity that is too high.
TIP!
When repairing an air leak, deflate the boat/tube before you start the repair.
Afterwards, do not inflate/pump up the boat for 24 hours due to the adhesive drying time.
