Instructions for use Zodiac adhesive (NEOPRENE HYPALON) - Z7098
Use the Zodiac Neoprene Hypalon adhesive (2-component) for professional repairs to your inflatable boat or RIB boat made with Hypalon material. Follow the steps below carefully for a strong bond.
Important conditions for bonding
- The temperature of the area where bonding will be carried out must be between 20°C and 25°C.
- The humidity must not be higher than 70%.
Mix the adhesive and hardener thoroughly according to the ratio on the packaging.
Mixing ratio: 5–7% hardener relative to the adhesive
(e.g. 125 ml adhesive + 7.5 ml hardener, or 250 ml adhesive + 15 ml hardener)
Preparing the repair
- Cut the patch (Neoprene Hypalon repair patch) to size.
TIP: If possible, round off the corners of the patch for a neater finish and stronger adhesion. - Mark the outline on the area to be repaired using a white pencil or a silver or green writing pen.
⚠️ Do not use a blue ink pen! - Then lightly sand both surfaces (both the patch and the section on the boat).
- Then degrease both parts with the special CLEANER – do not use acetone! Degrease only the marked area on the boat.
Adhesive instructions
- First coat: Apply a thin coat of adhesive to both surfaces using long, straight strokes. Leave to dry for about 10 minutes.
- Second coat: Apply another thin coat and leave to dry for about 15 minutes.
Then apply the patch and press firmly from the centre outwards with a blunt object. You can optionally use the special stainless steel spatula (pusher) for even pressure.
Remove adhesive residue immediately with the special cleaner and then press the edges of the patch firmly again.
After this, allow to dry for at least 24 hours at a constant temperature. The boat must not come into contact with water again until after 72 hours.
Important warnings and tips
If the adhesive turns white, you must NOT continue bonding.
The cause is usually an ambient temperature that is too low or humidity that is too high.
TIP!
When repairing an air leak, let the boat/tube deflate before you start the repair.
After this, do not inflate/pump up the boat for 24 hours due to the adhesive drying time.
