Tube holders and float mounts for Zodiac RIB boats
Zodiac RIB boats are equipped with a patented, removable float system. This system allows the float (tube) to be completely removed and replaced when it becomes worn, damaged, or outdated. The main connection between the float and the fiberglass hull is thetendon connection, also called the slide-in string. In larger Zodiac RIBs, this connection is reinforced by a second attachment point: thetube holderat the back.
How does the Zodiac tube attachment work?
In almost all Zodiac RIBs, the tube is pulled into the rail (opening) of the polyester hull by a strong tendon. This ensures:
- a secure, stable connection
- a tight fit
- easy maintenance and replacement
Larger models (such as PRO, PRO OPEN, MEDLINE and Yachtline) have an additional attachment at the rear: thetube holder / supportThis is placed in a recess on the top of the hull and keeps the tube perfectly in place, even in rough conditions.
Common problems and causes
A damaged or torn tube holder mainly occurs when:
- the tube withinsufficient air pressureis used
- the boat is heavily loaded
- parts are outdated
- the mounting is no longer mounted correctly
Sailing with a tube that is too soft puts extra stress on the attachment points, which can cause damage.
The importance of a properly fitted tube holder
For maximum safety and a longer lifespan of your Zodiac RIB it is essential that:
- the float is always at the correct pressure
- the tube holder sits firmly and completely in the recess
- you replace a damaged fastener in time
- you choose the right material (PVC or Hypalon)
Correct installation prevents tearing and significantly extends the life of both the tube and the hull.

Zodiac uses two types of materials for floats:
- PVCmaterial
- Neoprene Hypalonmaterial (resistant to higher temperatures, chemical loads and intensive use)
It is important that the tube holder is always made of the same material as the float.
